To help keep your home and community safe, we’ve been upgrading our CCTV systems in most of our buildings and schemes in recent months. We now have a team who live monitor CCTV footage overnight so they can respond to, and report, any issues immediately.
As part of our drive to deter and detect crime and anti-social behaviour, we’re beginning to regularly share a range of case studies to show you how the system is working for our tenants.
What did the CCTV cameras capture?
A removal van entered Saddlers Court, where two males were caught unloading a large amount of building materials and furniture in and around the bin store areas.
Not only is this illegal activity, but also posed a risk to tenants living in Saddlers Court.
How did we resolve it?
Because of where the camera was installed, the CCTV team weren’t able to capture the registration plate but the CCTV camera did capture the company name and telephone number displayed on the side of the vehicle.
By using the details captured on camera and doing a quick search online, Brendan, our CCTV Manager, managed to locate the address of the company in Birmingham.
Brendan visited the site and captured the vehicles registration plate. He gathered all evidence and reported the offenders straight away to the Walsall Council’s Community Protection team, who are now investigating the issue further.
We’ve finished installing CCTV cameras in all of our buildings and they’ve had a positive impact in preventing and dealing with any trouble and making your communities safer.
