Retrofit Pilot
06/06/2022
Our customers recently told us that energy efficiency and environmental issues are important to them and as a landlord we’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
Most of the carbon we produce as an organisation is associated with our homes. So we’ve teamed up with British Gas to start fitting and trialing new technologies in some of our homes.
By retrofitting these homes we're aiming to increase their energy efficiency, help our customers to combat rising fuel prices and reduce our carbon footprint.
What new technologies are being used?
There are a number of different technologies that we’re using in the pilot such as installing external wall insulation, new boilers, air source heat pumps and solar panels.
We’ve been working closely with customers to make sure that they understand how to make the most of their new additions. We have been helping them to check their bills and monitor their usage to see how the changes have affected their bills. This information will help us to make the best choices going forward.
So far this has proven to be very successful and the customers involved have saved money and are very happy with the results overall.
What do our customers think?
“We are very happy with our new bill and thrilled that we were chosen by Midland Heart to have all our new equipment installed. If anyone looks at this and are unsure whether to have the work done by midland heart at their home then just ask yourself, do I want to be more green?"
“Not only will I feel the benefit of the external wall insulation but it has made my property look really nice, even the mum’s at school have said how nice it looks.”
Rising energy costs
In April, the energy price cap rose significantly and it’s due to rise again later this year. We’re doing everything we can to support our customers with rising costs. Our Customer Scrutiny Team are all being trained as Energy Advisers to give them the knowledge to support our customers better.
We’ve also created a section on our website which is dedicated to energy saving . Here you’ll find energy saving tips and information about your utilities.
If you’re struggling to pay you energy bills, rent or are struggling financially you can call us on 0345 60 20 540 or visit our Money Advice page.
