Home water efficiency checks
06/06/2023
We’re working in partnership with Severn Trent Water to make sure your water supply is running as efficiently as possible and that you’re only paying for the water that you use. We’re doing this by arranging home water efficiency checks.
What is a home water efficiency check?
If you have an unusually high meter reading for your water, Severn Trent Water will arrange to pay you a visit to do a home water efficiency check. During this visit, they’ll check for any drips or leaks that could be contributing to your high meter reading and fix any problems.
They’ll assess your current water usage and give you some tips on how to save water. They can also install water saving devices where appropriate.
Why are we running these checks?
To help you save money! High meter readings mean you’re paying more for your water and if this is due to leaks or drips, we want to make sure that’s fixed.
It could just be that you’re using more water than normal and if so Severn Trent Water can help you with some advice on how to lower your usage and, therefore, your water bills.
It’s also important that we work together to try and save water where possible, to protect the planet and our resources.
How do I know if I need a home water check?
If your meter reading is unusually high, Severn Trent Water will reach out to you directly to arrange an appointment.
They’ll mention that they’re working in partnership with us, but if you have any doubts you can phone our Customer Hub on 0345 60 20 540 to confirm that the call is legitimate.
How long will the check take?
The visit should only take around 45 minutes. In this time, the engineer will check all the water supply connections in your home and will fix any leaks or drips that they find.
Please remember that someone over the age of 18 needs to be present to give the engineer access to your home.
