Budgeting For The Holidays

This time of year can feel overwhelming with the cost of bills, Christmas shopping and more overall expenses with the kids being off from school.

We’ve pulled together some useful tips that can helped you get prepared for the festive period.

Prioritising bills

It’s really important that you pay your rent, council tax and other utility bills before spending money on gifts and decorations.

Christmas shopping

If you haven’t got the budget for new Christmas gifts, try shopping in charity shops. It’s a great way to buy little nick nacks and give second hand items a new home!

If you’re looking to buy something special, make sure you compare prices. Look at the price of products in different shops or on different websites before you buy to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Free activities

There are plenty of things to do with family and friends without needing to spend money over the festive period.

Take a trip to see the Christmas markets and lights, go on a festive nature walk, or cosy up at home with a hot chocolate and a festive film.

Which.co.uk have a handful of really cheap and free activities you can get involved in.

If you’re struggling with the cost of living, take a look at our web page to see the different types of support you can receive from us, the government and other organisations.

If you’re worried about being able to pay your rent, please get in touch with your Rent Payment Officer on 0345 60 20 540. They’ll be able to support you based on your individual circumstances.
