Community day at Fivelands

Community Day Feedback ASB 23/09/2024

Recently, our teams were out at Fivelands Road in Burton which is one of our newer developments. We’d had some issues reported across the community, so we wanted to have a chat with our tenants in person.

Why Fivelands Road?

Fivelands Road in Burton is one of our newer mixed tenure communities, with a combination of leaseholders and social housing tenants in the neighbourhood. We’d had some reports of issues with some of the communal areas and anti-social behaviour (ASB) being experienced by some of the tenants and leaseholders.

A number of our teams were involved in dealing with these issues, and so we decided it made sense to hold a Community Day on the estate. We wanted to get our teams and our police partners together with our tenants and leaseholders to understand their community safety concerns and provide reassurance on how we can tackle these by working together.

Talking to you

We spoke with a number of tenants and leaseholders and were able to get lots of information around specific issues and the impact these were having across the neighbourhood.

We were able to update tenants and leaseholders on the plans to deal with the pavement issues and the overgrown areas of land. In terms of the antisocial behaviour reports, we spoke with those who came down about the issues they were experiencing and we were able to provide reassurance about what we’re doing to tackle this, including jointly working with our police partners, and bringing in our specialist ASB Team and Restorative Justice Officer.

Our Rangers team were also on site to help with a general tidy up of the area. They removed 3 sacks full of litter as well as some white goods that had been fly-tipped.

Your feedback

We really enjoyed seeing so many of you show up and chat with us openly and honestly.

Two of our leaseholders, Fern and James, said: “It was good to see the different teams from Midland Heart coming together for the community. We feel like we are being listened to.”

The day was really successful and it was a great opportunity to understand and highlight the issues in the area. It’s really important for us to make sure we’re getting out and about to speak with you in person, so keep an eye out for our next community day!
