It’s really important to keep your home safe – not only for your safety but also for your belongings!

Burglars are often just looking for an opportunity, so it’s important to make sure your home is really secure and doesn’t have any obvious faults that criminals could take advantage of.

Keeping your home secure

Here are a few things to remember to keep your home and your belongings safe:

  • Make sure doors are closed properly when you're coming in and going out
  • Never let anyone in that you’re not expecting or who shouldn’t be there
  • Make sure any valuables are out of sight of windows
  • Contact us to report vandalism or security issues, or report it to the police when needed

Staying away from home

If you’re planning on going on holiday, it’s worth asking a friend or family member to keep an eye on your home and remember to cancel newspaper and milk deliveries.

If you plan to be away for more than 28 days, please let us know as we might need to access your home in an emergency. If we can’t contact you, we may think you’ve abandoned your home.

How do you keep my home safe?

Our Rangers and Estates teams carry out monthly inspections of our buildings to make sure there are no potential security issues or fire risks.

Some of our communal entrance doors may be fitted with a door entry system to keep shared spaces safe and we’ll make sure internal and external areas are well lit.

We also have a mobile caretaking service (service charge applicable) who support us in identifying safety and security issues outside of normal working hours.

If you’re worried about the safety of your home, please ring our Hub on 0345 60 20 540, and we’ll look into it for you.
