Listening to our residents
Specialist Accommodation 04/09/2024
In one of our specialist accommodation schemes, we’ve recently made some improvements to our residents' homes in response to their feedback.
What’s specialist accommodation?
Specialist accommodation allows individuals with a disability to live independently in their own home. They have support to help them manage their own tenancy and achieve greater freedom and control in their lives.
Our Specialist Accommodation Team look after a number of properties for residents with learning difficulties or mental health issues. We also work very closely with a variety of care providers who give the residents the amount of care and support they need.
What did our residents tell us?
Residents at Lynchgate Road were experiencing antisocial behaviour (ASB) from one of the other residents. They also raised some problems with kitchen facilities being outdated and car parks being obstructed by overgrown shrubs.
How did we help?
We helped resolve these issues for residents at Lynchgate Road by firstly addressing the ASB. This resulted in us supporting the resident who was causing the issue to move to more suitable accommodation.
We also took residents’ feedback on board and installed new kitchens for all 8 flats in the building, and we’re now working on getting bathrooms renovated too.
The overgrown shrubs in the car park were all cleared, making the car park easier to access for residents and much nicer to look at.
What our residents said
Two of our residents were really pleased with their new kitchens. They told us, “I’m really happy with my new kitchen they did a lovely job,” and “I’m really happy with my new kitchen it looks so much nicer now.”
Another resident was pleased about the ASB case being solved, “It has been a lot more quiet and more peaceful.”
If you’re experiencing any problems at your scheme, you should report it to your on-site staff or let us know here. We also have some useful information on ASB and how to report on our webpage here.
