Pension Credit Awareness
Pension Money Advice DWP 17/09/2024
If you’re at state pension age, we strongly advise that you check to see if you’re eligible for pension credit. It’s worth up to £300 per household and you could be missing out.
What can pension credit help me with?
By claiming pension credit, you can also get help with housing costs, council tax, and heating bills.
The pension credit awareness scheme helps identify households not claiming the benefit, and encourages those who are at state pension age to apply by the deadline date, Saturday 21st December 2024, in order to receive the Winter Fuel Payment.
How do I know if I’m eligible?
- You must be at state pension age (66 or over)
- You or your partner are getting Housing Benefit for people over state pension age
You can find out more about pension credit eligibility here.
How do I know what I can claim?
You can use the benefits calculator on the Gov.uk website to give you an estimate of:
- the benefits you could receive
- how much your benefit payments could be
- how your benefits will be affected if you start work or increase your hours
- how your benefits will be affected if your circumstances change - for example, if you move in with your partner
