ESG report 21/11/2024

Abbey Road

Our ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) strategy and performance report gives an overview of how we’re preforming in those areas and our route to net-zero. It showcases how our sustainable actions are making a difference to you and your homes.

What have we achieved?

One of our highlights of the year is the investment we’ve been able to put into your homes. We’ve completed energy efficiency upgrades in over 160 homes, with the funding we received through Wave 1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

99% of your homes now have a minimum EPC rating of D, with over 77% at EPC C. These improvements helped us earn our SHIFT GOLD accreditation earlier this year, making us one of the top performing landlords in the sector for environmental sustainability.

We’ve been able to help those in need of a home by providing 670 new affordable and energy efficient houses across the Midlands. We’re well on track to achieve our target of 4000 homes built and/or acquired in our current corporate plan (2019-25).

Our ESG strategy and performance

This strategy is supported by a series of case studies that evidence the real-life impact and progress that has been made for you, your homes and neighbourhoods.

Our intervention programme is an example of this. It’s an initiative to reduce higher-than-average levels of crime and ASB in 150 schemes, through local lettings plans and with investment in the security of the communal areas. Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Finance & Growth

“While our tenants are always at the heart of everything we do, our ESG strategy and performance has become more tenant-led than ever before. Alongside our operational highlights, in this year’s report we have documented a range of real-life case studies that show the impact we have had on the communities in which we serve over the last 12 months.

“As well as building the much-needed homes our region needs, we’ve made significant improvements to the energy efficiency of our existing homes. We’ve continued to move our EPCs in the right direction, with almost all of our homes now at a minimum of EPC D, and 77% at EPC C. These aren’t just operational targets; increasing the energy efficiency of our homes helps to keep our tenants warm in their homes, and their energy bills low.”

Our progress is monitored against the Sustainable Reporting Standard for Social Housing, which supports consistent, reliable, and quality sector reporting.
