Register your appliances and keep your home safe
How many appliances have you got around your home?
How many of them have you registered?
Register My Appliance Week is here to remind us about how important it is to register our electrical appliances, large and small.
According to the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances, more than 40 million large appliances in UK homes are unregistered.
From washing machines and air fryers to irons, toasters and hair straighteners registering all of your appliances is something we should all get into the habit of doing, whether you’ve just bought them or had them for a while,
Why should you register your appliances?
Registering your appliances is quick and easy – and free – to do. It’s also extremely important because it can help make your home a safer place.
It means the manufacturer can contact you if they need to:
- Recall your appliance - for safety or other reasons
- Carry out - any safety repairs
- Provide you – with any upgrade-related updates
Should I register my second-hand appliances?
Yes, while faults and safety issues can develop shortly after you’ve bought a product, they can also crop up over time. That’s why you should register second-hand items too, which you can still do, even if you haven’t got a receipt. In most circumstances, all you need is the model and serial number.
Register your appliances – in 3 easy steps
The registration process is really straightforward. All you need to do is:
Step 1: Find all of the key details - the brand name, model name/number, serial number and purchase date (it doesn’t have to be exact; a rough date is fine).
Step 2: Log on to the Register My Appliance website - https://www.registermyappliance.org.uk/registration/
Step 3: Register your appliance – start by searching for the brand and then follow the guidance. You can register up to five products at a time.
Have you got five minutes to spare over the next few days? Simply by taking the time to register your appliances, you can receive crucial safety manufacturers’ updates to help you stay safe in your home.
