As part of our mission to make sure our homes are as safe and comfortable as possible, we regularly review the need for upgrades and improvements across all of our properties.
Some of our work is carried out as part of a cyclical programme, where we replace certain things every so many years, others are part of a project to make improvements because of customer feedback or in response to a local issue.
What kind of improvements will we make?
Some of the work we might consider doing includes improvements to:
- Security
- Communal areas, decorating, lighting and general appearance
- Communication with residents
- Ongoing ASB issues
So far, the project has been a huge success with one of our residents at Priory Court saying, “I really like the appearance of the block now, it's fresh! I like the colours they've painted the communal areas... And since the security cameras have been put in it's actually improved the safety of the block."
You can take a look at some of the properties that have had improvements below.
Priory Court is a block of 46 flats, located in Wolverhampton.
We’d had feedback from our customers living at Priory Court that they were worried about anti-social behaviour in the area around their scheme and that they felt unsafe when going out and about.
We worked closely with other agencies like the local policing team and the homelessness outreach team to tackle issues in the area.

Charnwood House is a mid-rise block of 11 flats, which in the past was popular with prospective tenants because of the locality and good transport links. However, recently, the appearance of communal areas and problems in the community meant that attracting new residents was tough and our current residents were disheartened with their homes.
To properly understand what needed to change at Charnwood House, we touched base with customers to hear their concerns and take on board their feedback.

Hailes Park Close is one of our communities in Wolverhampton. Toward the end of 2022, we held an engagement day there to check in on the progress of the upgrades so far.
Originally, we consulted our residents at Hailes Park Close to see what sort of improvements they wanted to see in their communal areas.
Our engagement day in November was the perfect time to show off the improvements that had been made in the community.
